McKinley County Warrant RecordsMcKinley County Warrant Records

A city ticket belongs to Gallup Municipal Court, and that is where to start. Gallup warrant records run through the court inside the John B. Arviso complex, while the Gallup Police Department keeps agency records and handles service. The city launched an eligible-record portal, yet the court itself confirms whether a warrant stands, what bond applies, and what it takes to recall one or set a new appearance. The City Clerk offers an IPRA route for existing city records. Call before visiting.

How to Check for a Warrant in Gallup

Every Gallup case begins at Gallup Municipal Court, not with a sheriff roster. Pull out the citation or case notice first. From there, try the city's eligible-record portal or New Mexico Case Lookup when the case appears there. Then call the court at 505-863-4469 to confirm what the search returns.

  1. Find the citation or case number and court name.
  2. Search the official city portal or state case system.
  3. Ask the clerk about warrant type, current balance, bond, judge appearance, and next date.
  4. If a police or city record is needed, use Gallup PD Records or the City Clerk IPRA route.

An empty online result does not recall a warrant. The court controls the answer.

Gallup Municipal Court Starts the City Warrant Route

Gallup Municipal Court sits at 451 Boardman Drive, also described as State Road 564, inside the John B. Arviso Law Enforcement and Municipal Court Complex. It handles city traffic, DWI, petty misdemeanors, ordinances, animal control, and code matters. Divorce, child support, domestic violence, and protection orders fall outside it.

Gallup warrant records police department and municipal court route

The Gallup Police Department page gives the agency context. Recall of a municipal warrant rests with the court, not the police records desk.

The Gallup Police Department and Municipal Court

Gallup Police headquarters sits at 451 S. Boardman Avenue. The facility page lists round-the-clock access, while Records runs 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 451 S. Boardman. Reach Records at 505-863-9365, email GPDrecords@gallupnm.gov for IPRA inquiries, and call nonemergency dispatch at 505-722-2002 or 505-722-2231.

Gallup warrant records police facility and city court access

The official facility page covers the building and contacts. Gallup posts no public warrant roster there.

Gallup Police Has Records, Not a Warrant Portal

Gallup PD publishes no public warrant-search page, roster, or warrant-only phone line. That is why a city bench-warrant question should go to Municipal Court first. Gallup PD Records can process an existing agency-record request, though police records never change the court's warrant status. Use 911 only for a genuine emergency. For a routine status check, call 505-863-4469 or use the court's published official contact. Keeping those paths separate stops an agency-record request from being mistaken for a clearance step.

Types of Gallup Warrants

Gallup Municipal Court's own clearance information names failure to appear, failure to comply, and failure to pay as the city bench-warrant triggers. A Gallup traffic or ordinance case therefore follows a different route than a McKinley felony arrest warrant.

City warrant typeLocal triggerFirst office

Failure-to-pay warrantOutstanding fine, costs, or ordered paymentGallup Municipal Court

The New Mexico forms use no "capias" label here. Gallup's court speaks in bench-warrant and failure-to-pay terms.

Gallup's Three City Bench-Warrant Triggers

Failure to appear, failure to comply, and failure to pay each raise different questions. A missed appearance can require arraignment. A compliance problem can put the matter before a judge. A payment issue may demand the full balance, court costs, and a local bench-warrant cost.

Appear
Attend the required court setting or scheduled arraignment.
Comply
Complete a condition, program, payment, or order set by court.
Pay
Address the balance and any applicable court cost or fee.

Ask the Gallup clerk which trigger the case carries and which written action will show recall.

What a Gallup Warrant Record Shows

Gallup's public portal covers eligible records only, so an online result may not show every document. The statewide Form 9-212C framework lays out the fields a municipal bench warrant can contain.

Case or citationThe city identifier the clerk uses to locate the file.
TriggerFailure to appear, comply, pay, or another court-specified fact.
ChargeTraffic, ordinance, petty misdemeanor, DWI, animal, or code matter.
Bond or judgeSome warrants list bond; others require a judge appearance.
Cost and statusFine, court costs, possible $100 fee, payment, return, or recall entry.

A record might omit juvenile, sealed, restricted, or protected information. Verify with the court.

Gallup's $100 Bench-Warrant Cost

Gallup Code Section 1-13-4 and the court's clearance instructions set a $100 bench-warrant cost for applicable city cases. A failure-to-pay warrant may stay live until outstanding fines, court costs, and that $100 are paid in full. The clerk holds the current balance. Some warrants list bond. Cash means cash only. Cash or surety allows the cash route or a licensed bondsman. If no bond is listed, or none can be posted, the court sets the person for the next available arraignment. Posted cash may be assigned toward fines at sentencing when authorized, with any remainder returned by check 7 to 10 business days after adjudication. Ask the court how that rule applies to the case.

Where Gallup Warrants Fit With McKinley County

Gallup Municipal Court and Gallup Police are the two city starting points. If a city warrant is served or transported through county systems, MCSO may hold an agency record. That record still cannot recall the city court's order.

Warrant flow: Gallup Police or Municipal Court › McKinley County Sheriff when service or transport is involved › New Mexico court systems, with no single public statewide warrant roster.

For county felony, Magistrate, federal, tribal, or general access questions, the McKinley County warrant records overview carries the court-routing details.

Gallup's May 2026 Eligible-Record Portal

Gallup announced public access to eligible Municipal Court records through mcourtsgallupnm.com in May 2026. The notice warns that certain records may stay restricted under laws, court rules, and confidentiality requirements. If the site is down, or the record is missing, call 505-863-4469 and ask the court directly. Treat the portal as a convenience. An eligible-record portal is not the same as a full active-warrant list.

Public Access to Gallup Warrant Records

New Mexico IPRA backs inspection of public records, but law-enforcement, juvenile, sealed, confidential, and protected material may be withheld or redacted. The Gallup City Clerk offers a local route at 110 W. Aztec, 505-863-1254, pio@gallupnm.gov, with oral and written request options.

Access limits. The city portal covers eligible records. New Mexico Case Lookup is not the official record and does not show every document or juvenile case. Call the Municipal Court to confirm status.

Read the Gallup IPRA procedure for current request and copy instructions.

An empty web result proves nothing. Ask the Gallup court whether the case is restricted, new, or sits in another court.

Gallup City Clerk IPRA for Existing Records

Records that never made it online can still be requested in Gallup through the City Clerk's Inspection of Public Records process. Fees are set at $0.50 per page and $5 per CD or DVD, plus actual transmission cost. Responses are promised as immediate or prompt, with 15 calendar days as the outside limit.

Gallup warrant records City Clerk IPRA request access

The City Clerk IPRA page lays out that records-request path. It sets no bond and schedules no arraignment. For warrant status, ask the issuing court first, and give the clerk a citation or case number, a date range, and the type of record you want.

Resolving a Gallup Warrant Before Arrest

Gallup Municipal Court lets a person with an outstanding warrant turn themselves in and appear at a regular scheduled arraignment. Any other day or time takes a phone call first. That is the court's guidance, not a guarantee against custody.

  1. Call 505-863-4469 and ask for current status and the approved appearance route.
  2. Ask about payment, bond, judge appearance, and the $100 cost when applicable.
  3. Bring the case or citation number and any court notice.
  4. Keep proof of payment, appearance, or recall.
  5. Confirm that the public case record and court docket show the expected change.

Gallup's court aims to help people clear an active warrant without an arrest. The outcome still rests on the case and the judge.
